Mike Griffiths is an experienced project manager and agile coach with a long history of contributions to the agile and project management community. He helped create the agile approach, DSDM, in 1994 and has been using agile approaches on his projects ever since. He served on the board of directors for the Agile Alliance and Agile Project Leadership Network (APLN), and remains active in the agile community.

He is also a frequent contributor to the project management community, as he tries to spread the agile message. He was chair of the author group that wrote the new “PMI Agile Practice Guide,” codeveloped with the Agile Alliance. He was on the steering committee that created the Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP)® certification, and wrote RMC’s “PMI-ACP® Exam Prep” book. He also cowrote the “Software Extension to the PMBOK® Guide” and participates in the PMI mentor program. When not contributing to standards or publications, he trains and consults on effective project and product development execution. Combining elements of agile, leadership and emotional intelligence, he tries to use the right tools for the job at hand. After 30 years of software project experience, he has come to realize that most complex projects can be simplified, and most conflicts can be resolved by taking the time to listen compassionately to jointly determine the best next steps. Projects do not need to be hard, but often, in the attempt to make things go quickly, we make it harder than we need to.
